The oldest and most widely distributed representative of the information technology sector in Brazil. Founded on August 23, 1976.
The Confederation of the Associations of Brazilian Information Technology Companies (ASSESPRO) is the oldest representative of the sector, with the broadest representation and reach, particularly among small and medium-sized companies.
Founded on August 23, 1976, it is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Brasília/DF, created to provide distinct and enterprising representation for Brazilian private companies that produce and develop software, products, and services in information technology, telecommunications, and the internet. Over these five decades, the organization has defended the interests of Brazilian companies and of the country's technology industry.
Today, with approximately 3,500 member companies, the Confederation maintains member entities in 16 states. In states where no member entity has yet been established, information technology companies affiliate directly with the ASSESPRO Confederation, so that the organization maintains representation in every state of Brazil. With this reach, ASSESPRO increasingly assumes the role of representing the sector before municipal, state and federal governments, before society and before educational institutions, with the goal of integrating the academic and business communities and contributing to the training of professionals qualified for market demands.
In recent years, ASSESPRO has played a prominent role in the debate on the main topics of interest to the information technology and innovation sector before the National Congress, the Judiciary, and Federal Government agencies, taking part in public hearings, seminars, working meetings, and other activities aimed at contributing to the improvement of public policies for this important Brazilian productive segment.
The importance of ASSESPRO is recognized at all levels of government and in society. The organization is an active member of:
In 2019, ASSESPRO created the Legal Intelligence Council, specialized in the information and communication technology sector, with the goal of developing and debating legal and strategic measures aimed at improving the regulatory framework of the segment. The council is composed of a team of 12 attorneys who coordinate member entity groups and of the Confederation's Vice Presidency of Political Articulation.
